A Fire NOC / Fire Safety Certificate is an approval or certificate issued by the competent authority where applicable.

A Fire Safety Audit should not be represented as a substitute for a statutory Fire NOC / Fire Safety Certificate where such approval is legally required.

    Important Audit & Compliance Note

Fire NOC / Fire Safety Certificate applicability depends on building occupancy, height, area, use and requirements of the competent local authority.

A Fire Safety Audit is a professional safety assessment and should not be represented as a substitute for a statutory Fire NOC / Fire Safety Certificate where such approval is legally required.

Whether a Fire Audit alone is acceptable for a particular licence, registration, hospital/school permission, occupancy approval or departmental requirement must ultimately be determined by the concerned competent authority.

    [FAQ]

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. If Fire NOC is not required, will a Fire Audit be sufficient?

A Fire Audit and a Fire NOC / Fire Safety Certificate are different documents.

A Fire Audit is a professional assessment of the fire and life-safety arrangements available at the premises. It may include inspection of fire extinguishers, hydrants, hose reels, fire pumps, tanks, sprinklers, smoke detectors, alarm systems, MCPs, hooters, emergency exits, signage and other installed systems.

Whether a Fire Audit alone is sufficient for a particular requirement must be determined by the concerned competent authority.

Where a statutory Fire NOC is not applicable or has not been specifically mandated by the competent authority, a Fire Safety Audit can be useful for documenting and assessing the existing fire-safety condition of the premises.

It can also be used for:

Internal safety compliance • Periodic inspection • Management records • Institutional safety review • Identifying deficiencies • Pre-NOC assessment • Renewal preparation • Verification of installed fire-safety systems

However, whether an audit alone is acceptable for a particular licence, registration, hospital/school permission, occupancy approval or departmental requirement must ultimately be determined by the concerned competent authority.

Depending on the building and occupancy, the audit may include verification of:

Access & Means of Escape • Fire Extinguishers • Wet Riser / Down Comer • Hydrant Valves • Hose Reels & Hose Boxes • Fire Water Tanks • Main/Jockey/Terrace Pumps • Pump Panel & Starters • Automatic Sprinklers • Smoke/Heat Detectors • Fire Alarm Panel • MCPs • Hooters • Emergency Lighting • Exit Signage • Electrical Safety • DG/Emergency Power • Refuge/Pressurization provisions and other applicable installations.

Submit your building details for a preliminary applicability assessment.

    We may require:

Building Type / Occupancy • Building Height • Number of Floors • Basement Details • Plot & Built-up Area • Number of Occupants/Beds/Rooms/Students/Staff, as applicable • Approved Building Plan • Existing Fire Approval/NOC, if any • Photographs of the premises

After reviewing the information, the applicable fire-safety process can be advised, subject to verification and requirements of the competent authority.
